Edgerunner Open Regional Side Event Preview and Schedules

Whether your run in the Main Event ends sooner than you hoped, or you’re not planning to play the Main Event at all, Side Events ensure you always have plenty to do and plenty of opportunities to play, compete, and win at an Edgerunner Open Regional.

Today, we’re excited to preview our first wave of Side Events that you’ll find at Edgerunner Open Regional Chicago and Edgerunner Open Regional Warsaw.

Please note that not all event types listed here will appear at all events. You’ll find Side Event schedules for both Chicago and Warsaw at the bottom of this article.

Competitive Side Events

Goro Takemura Open

Goro Takemura Opens are premier Side Events, which offer an additional way for players to earn a Black Sapphire Invitational qualification at Edgerunner Open Regionals. EORs will feature multiple Goro Takemura Opens, so players will have multiple chances to earn their invite to the next tier of competition across an EOR weekend.

Event format: Constructed Best-of-Three, five rounds

Event cap: 256 players

Prizing breakdown:

• Participation: 200 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round win: 300 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round loss: 100 Prize Wall Eddies
• Top 8 players (all 5-0 players after 5 rounds of Swiss): Black Sapphire Invitational Invite, EOR Stamped Dexter DeShawn: Off The Grid promo, Serialized Goro Takemura Playmat

Second Chance Relic

Second Chance Relic events will take place on the Friday of 3-day EOR events, offering winners a chance to win a ticket into the Main Event if they couldn’t secure one previously. Multiple Second Chance Relic events will be available on Friday, depending on how many Main Event spaces are available.

For example, EOR Chicago has 64 tickets reserved for Second Chance Relic players, so there will be 4 Second Chance Relic events on the Friday of that event — each awarding Main Event entry to 16 undefeated players.

Event format: Constructed Best-of-Three, three rounds

Event cap: 128

Nova Win-a-Box

Nova Win-a-Box events (as the name suggests) are your best opportunity to win a Booster Display of Welcome to Night City at an EOR.

Event format: Constructed Best-of-Three, three rounds

Event cap: No cap

Prizing breakdown:

• Participation: 200 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round win: 300 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round loss: 100 Prize Wall Eddies
• All 3-0 players after 3 rounds: Welcome To Night City Retail Booster Display

Sunset Win-a-Mat

Scheduled toward the end of EOR days, Sunset Win-a-Mat events give players one last chance to secure themselves a beautiful Edgerunner Open Regional "Fool on the Hill" Playmat.

Event format: Constructed Best-of-Three, three rounds

Event cap: 256

Prizing breakdown:

• Participation: 200 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round win: 300 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round loss: 100 Prize Wall Eddies
• All 3-0 players after 3 rounds: Exclusive “Fool on the Hill” Playmat

Flatlined Revival

Flatlined Revival events are all about the Eddies. If your Main Event doesn’t go exactly as planned, this is your chance to secure yourself a major Prize Wall payday.

Event format: Constructed Best-of-Three, three rounds

Event cap: 512

Prizing breakdown:

• Participation: 400 Prize Wall Eddies, Foil Muamar Reyes: El Capitán promo (Main Event promo)
• Per round win: 300 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round loss: 100 Prize Wall Eddies
• All 3-0 players after 3 rounds: 700 Prize Wall Eddies

Casual Side Events

Afterlife Mixer — Constructed

Event format: Constructed Best-of-One, five rounds

Event cap: Capacity varies

Prizing breakdown:

• Participation: 200 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round win: 100 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round loss: 100 Prize Wall Eddies

Afterlife Mixer — Sealed

Event format: Sealed Best-of-One (six packs for deck construction), five rounds

Event cap: Capacity varies

Prizing breakdown:

• Per round win: 100 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round loss: 100 Prize Wall Eddies

Chroming Up Sealed

In Chroming Up Sealed events, you’ll build a deck using sealed Booster Packs just like a regular sealed events, except you’ll also get an additional Booster Pack after round 1 and 2 to add to your deck and make it even stronger.

Event format: Sealed Best-of-Three (six packs for deck construction plus 1 additional pack after rounds 1 and 2), three rounds

Night City Beta — Afterimage

Event format: Sealed Best-of-Three (using Welcome to Night City Beta Kits), three rounds

Event cap: 256

Prizing breakdown:

• Participation: 200 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round win: 300 Prize Wall Eddies
• Per round loss: 100 Prize Wall Eddies

3v3 Chooms — Team Constructed

In our Chooms events, teams of 3 players will face off against each other, playing 3 simultaneous 1v1 games. Whichever team wins the majority of those 3 simultaneous games wins the round. Prize Wall Eddies are awarded based on the outcome of each individual game, so if you go 3-0 and your teammates lose every round, you’ll still earn 300 Eddies for each of your personal wins!

During team events, all Legends for all players are revealed before each round, and team captains will select which decks face off against each other!

Event format: Constructed Best-of-One, three rounds, 3 simultaneous 1v1 games per round

Event cap: Capacity varies

3v3 Chooms — Team Sealed

On-Demand Pods — Any Format

On-demand 8-player pods will also be available for both constructed and sealed formats.

Note: Every EOR will have its own Side Event schedule based on event duration and venue capacity. The above events are not indicative of what all future North American or European EORs will look like.

Side Event tickets for Edgerunner Open Regional Chicago go on sale November 11!

Tickets for all scheduled Side Events for EOR Chicago will go on sale on November 11 at 7 PM EST through Melee. EOR Warsaw tickets will go on sale on November 18 at Noon EST. At those times, tickets will be available to purchase through the EOR Chicago and EOR Warsaw event hubs on Melee.

All Side Event tickets are only purchasable by players who already hold a Main Event, Streetkid, or City Cruiser ticket to the associated EOR.
