Introducing the Cyberpunk TCG Judge Program

Judges play an integral role in Trading Card Game events. They act as an impartial source of rules information for all players. They help newcomers navigate and understand tournament settings. They also ensure rules are upheld consistently, so all players have a great experience every time they play.

In our event preview blogs, you’ve already seen some of the exclusive promo cards that will be provided to reward and acknowledge Cyberpunk TCG judges at all levels of Organized Play. Today, we’re letting you know exactly how to become a Judge and start supporting your local Cyberpunk TCG community.

Introducing our three Judge tiers

The Cyberpunk TCG Judge Program is structured into three tiers.

Level 1 – “LGS judge”

Level 1 is an entry point for players and LGS staff who want to start judging. The role of Level 1 Judge is automatically awarded to anybody who achieves a result of over 85% on a Basic (Level 1) Cyberpunk TCG judge test.

Level 1 Judges are qualified to judge:

  • Night City Brawls (Any Position)
  • Pre-releases (Any Position)
  • Night City Showdowns (Any Position)
  • Night City District Opens (Floor Judge)

As soon as you successfully complete the Basic judge test, you’ll get an invite to join the Cyberpunk TCG Judge Discord, which will be a critical resource for your onward judging journey!

Level 2 – “Regional Judge”

To become a Level 2 Judge, you must pass an Intermediate (Level 2) Judge test with a score of 85% or above, then directly apply for the role through the Cyberpunk TCG Judge Discord. The role is awarded based on Judging experience in addition to judge test results, and is made at the discretion of WeirdCo staff.

Level 2 Judges are qualified to judge:

  • Night City Brawls (Any Position)
  • Pre-releases (Any Position)
  • Night City Showdowns (Any Position)
  • Night City District Opens (Any Position)
  • Edgerunner Open Regionals (Floor Judge)
  • Black Sapphire Invitationals (Floor Judge)

In addition to Judging at these events, Level 2 Judges are also qualified to answer rules questions and help resolve inquiries in the Cyberpunk TCG Judge Discord.

Level 3 – “Expert Regional Judge”

To become a Level 3 Judge, qualified and approved Level 2 Judges must pass an Expert Cyberpunk TCG policy and rulings test with a result of 90% or higher, then apply directly for the role through the Cyberpunk TCG Judge Discord.

Level 3 judge tests are not live now, and will be made available at a later date.

Level 3 Judges are qualified to judge:

  • Night City Brawls (Any Position)
  • Pre-releases (Any Position)
  • Night City Showdowns (Any Position)
  • Night City District Opens (Any Position)
  • Edgerunner Open Regionals (Floor Judge or Assistant Head Judge)
  • Black Sapphire Invitationals (Floor Judge or Assistant Head Judge)
  • World Championships (Floor Judge or Assistant Head Judge)

Head Judges for major events are selected from among Level 3 Judges at WeirdCo’s discretion. Head Judges do not have their own tier.

Judge tests are available to take right now!

To start your Cyberpunk TCG judging journey, log into your CyberpunkTCG.com account using the button in the top right corner of this page, and head over to our new Judge Program page. If you're not logged in, the page will prompt you to do so.

Basic (Level 1) and Intermediate (Level 2) judge tests have a 24 hour cooldown period after a failed test, so choose your answers carefully!, Once you pass the Basic test, you’ll automatically gain the Level 1 Judge tag on your account.

After that, be sure to join the Cyberpunk TCG Judge Discord to connect with fellow judges, learn about upcoming judging opportunities, and progress further in your tiered judging journey.

Applications to judge at Edgerunner Open Regional Chicago are now live!

Applications are open to judge at Edgerunner Open Regional Chicago. If you’d like to judge at this event, you can find out how to apply over on the Cyberpunk TCG Judge Discord. Again, you’ll need to pass the Level 1 judge test to gain access to this Discord.

So, if you want to judge at this event or any other upcoming Edgerunner Open Regional, your path is:

  1. Complete a Basic Judge Test
  2. Join the Judge Discord server using the invite presented to you after completing your test
  3. Get your Judge role in Discord by confirming you have completed the test
  4. Access the application form through the Judge Discord

As this is our first Edgerunner Open Regional, anyone that has passed the Level 1 test can apply to judge at this event. However, we highly recommend that you have at least passed an Intermediate (Level 2) judge test if you intend to apply.
